Farm Masterplan Near Stokesley

Native we asked to prepare a masterplan and then detailed designs to unify separate strands of built and planted landscape surrounding the clients farmhouse and associated buildings.

The proposals were to create spaces around the farmhouse that would protect the house and garden from cold prevailing winds whilst allowing long range views out over the landscape. This was achieved with a ha-ha to the south to maintain views to the rising ground beyond, new drystone walling to give enclosure and defensible spaces around the house and separate the trafficked areas from them.

The proposals allow the house to more properly relate to the landscape, diminishing the visual and physical effects of parking and vehicular circulation whilst defining and enhancing the characteristics of the existing outdoor ‘rooms’.
