Hotel Development At Beverley
Native were commissioned to design a new 12 acre landscape with 5 distinctly different buildings within it for an existing hotel near Beverley.
The brief was to take inspiration from the landscape of the East Riding in terms of plant and tree species, the rolling character of the Wolds, and the hard surfacing materials that are the local vernacular.
The result is a parkland type landscape that harks back to when the existing hotel formed the core of a much larger country estate with a more naturalistic pallete of plants and landscape than one usually finds in hotel developments.
Grassland is open with native grass species left to grow long and seed, trees are planted in shelter belts to the perimeter or as specimens within the site and are native species sourced locally, planting close to the buildings is selected for colour, foliage, scent, and all year interest. Maintenance will be low.
Hard landscape employs natural materials such as Yorkstone and gravel that maintains the rural nature of the location but will be durable, easy to maintain, and will improve and mellow with age.
