Sally Walker qualified in 1980 and was elected a corporate Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects. Working in the construction industry for over 20 years in a variety of roles Sally can offer you design and construction expertise based on all building types.
During a sabbatical from practice Sally held the position of Research Fellow at The University of York, from 1992 - 1997. Sally's publications and commissioned research themes included architectural and practice management, user needs in building, briefing, design brief management and postgraduate professional development programmes.
1980 to 1988
New build and conservation projects within the British Rail property portfolio including main line Intercity Stations such as Berwick Upon Tweed, York, Leeds, Newark Northgate, Stevenage, King's Cross, Billericay, Dagenham Dock, Sleaford,Southend Victoria and other building projects such as restaurants and sports building and signal and telecommunication centres.
1988 to 1992
Museum interiors, offices, new social housing estates, housing for individual clients, barn conversions, photographic studios, car show rooms, shop interiors and retail units.
1992 to 1995 (Research Fellow)
Institute of Advanced Architectural Design. Post-gradute Programmes, Women in Architecture and Construction Studies, Environmental considerations in Social Housing. Asset Management for Local Authority.
1995 to Present - Native Chartered Architects
House extensions, new housing, historic building conservation, garden design, new build houses for individual clients, retail and small business developments in agricultural buildings. Work to listed buildings, restoration of listed structures, recording studio, consultancy and teaching at Sheffield School of Architecture.
